Wrinkles. We will all get them at some point in time. Many of us will try to minimize their effect on our facial and body esthetic. Just how we go about doing that is where the challenge comes in. If you don’t know about the different types of wrinkles, you could be doing all the wrong things to stop their progression! Let’s take a look at them now.
are those that are visible when we make facial expressions, such as when we laugh for frown. In youth, the inordinate amounts of collagen beneath the skin makes it possible for dynamic wrinkles to disappear when the face is at rest. Over time, however, the breakdown of structural support leads to the perpetual appearance of frown lines, crow’s feet, and vertical lines on the forehead
When dynamic wrinkles no longer disappear at rest, they become what we all static wrinkles. Other forms of static wrinkles include the lines and creases that develop around the nose and mouth, or on the chin. These folds in the skin do not develop due to facial expressions or movements, but as a result of reduced fluid and fatty tissue beneath the skin. While some people like their laugh lines, many would like to at least minimize them, if not hide them altogether.
Why it Matters
The reason it is important to know the cause of wrinkles is because this knowledge is what leads you to the right treatment for the goal you have in mind.
When it is wrinkles on the upper part of the face and around the eyes that concern you, your solution is to address the muscles that have become chronically tensed over time. Just like the other muscles that you work out, those used to make expressions develop a memory. The product that is most recognized for the treatment of dynamic wrinkles (which have become static wrinkles) is Botox. However, some patients prefer an alternative such as Dysport or Xeomin. At Park Avenue Skin & Spa, we discuss the options so you can choose which best meets your needs.
Static wrinkles on the lower part of the face have nothing to do with muscle contractions, so they require a different approach. We use a number of different soft tissue filler products to plump lines and creases, stimulate collagen production, and rejuvenate your appearance.
