Laser skin resurfacing has been popular for several years, so much so that some innovative laser devices have been developed in a relatively short period. This has been advantageous because the diversity of today’s treatment options enables us to adequately address the needs of a diverse clientele. We are pleased to offer Fraxel Restore as one of our laser resurfacing options.
What Fraxel Does
Fraxel laser skin resurfacing is ingenious because it plays a little trick on the skin. By creating thousands of micro-channels across a targeted treatment area, this fractionated laser technique stimulates a healing response without having to directly affect 100% of dermal tissue. This is beneficial because many patients do not like the idea of a full-face (or another area) resurfacing that ablates the entire surface. The gentleness of Fraxel means less down time, less redness, and possibly zero swelling. The risk of infection and need for post-treatment care is also significantly lower.
What we can Accomplish with Fraxel Treatments
The skin changes over time simply because the body produces fewer skin-supportive chemicals as we age. Then there is all that UV exposure we tend to get before we realize how much harm it is doing to our skin. Fraxel treatments, performed in a series over a few months’ time, can treat:
- Enlarged pores.
- Acne scarring or other scars from injuries or surgery.
- Sun damage and other hyperpigmentation, including melisma.
- Fine lines and wrinkles.
- Stretch marks.
- Precancerous lesions.
- Rough texture.
Fraxel treatments have been performed on patients of all ages who either want to take a proactive stance against aging or who have specific concerns they wish to address. The appearance of the skin begins to improve within a few days of the initial treatment session, though mild redness may linger for up to a week. As the healing response continues, healthy new skin cells become more visible and dead; damaged cells are shed. For up to six months after Fraxel laser skin resurfacing, vibrancy and softness continue to improve.
